I've been in love with James Salter for years now, A Sport and a Pastime winning me over quite completely, and I'm always harboring a secret hope that he'll publish something new. So I hunt. I peck. I wait. After performing this hunt/gather exercise for the past few years, it pains me to say there's been little to gather.
Today, it seems, the Salter gods (what would they be like?) are smiling upon me, for they've led me to The Guardian's podcast of James Salter reading from Light Years. While he's not reading from a new book, I'll take what I can get.
I'm a tad late to the dance on this, but it's worth mentioning that The Guardian's book podcasts are free & are available through iTunes. Recent 'casts include: China MiƩville, Graham Swift and Margaret Atwood.
