- The comprehensive list of weekly readings has been up at LAist since Monday (I know, I know, it's been a crazy week. Should have posted this before.)
- What you will realize quite quickly is that Thursday - today - is packed with great readings.
- Top picks if you're hankering for a reading this evening: Antoine Wilson at Book Soup, Armistead Maupin at Skylight Books, Mark Haskell Smith at Borders, Westwood. Their books, respectively: The Interloper, Michael Tolliver Lives and Salty. Go. Say hello. Wish them well and bask in the warmth of their talent. Seriously. Not only can I not be in three places at once, I can't be in any of them because we leave tonight for our wine tasting (read: let's pretend the wedding isn't stressful) weekend.
- I've been reading two books distracto-style: Karen MacNeil's The Wine Bible (both for my own edification and for an upcoming series of posts for LAist in which I'll be the "wine novice") and Katherine Taylor's Rules for Saying Goodbye. They are the perfect compliment to one another (to each other? I never know...) - Taylor's novel reads like a party and, well, what is a party without good wine? More on both to come.
