I saw The Lives of Others/Leben der Anderen, Das last night and - wow.
I was unaware of its award-winning status. I did not know it won 42 awards, including an Oscar, a Golden Globe, an Independent Spirit Award and an LA Film Critics Award for Best Foreign Language Film of the Year. I went in blind and I'm all the happier for it.
If you've got a few hours to fill this weekend and you've somehow not seen this film (I realize my total lack of awareness on this front is not likely to extend to others), might I suggest you fill those hours with this?
I'd so love to hear your thoughts. I'm still groping around for the right words.
