While a trip to the bookstore may heal my writing woes, it also has the unique benefit of placing coveted books in my greedy hands.
For the first weekend in months, I have no obligations, no places I must be, no people I must see. Call it wedding aftermath. Or the honeymoon is over (although it is so not, hello Nice in the Spring, hello Italy in the Summer, hello Kelowna in the Fall)...even a pre-holiday calm before the storm. I have waited like a good girl for these books to be mine and now that they are, I can think of little else.
I plan to hunker down with these fine reads as soon as the weekend begins (Friday at, what, 9pm?) and not come up for air unless it is an absolute necessity.
Of course, there is that cool thing at the Bootleg Theater, wherein Zack Helm (who wrote the script for Stranger Than Fiction) will interview a random audience member for half an hour. There's also, sigh, Steve Erickson. A must-not-miss kind of thing.
Well. Fine. I'll hunker down with these books until I must come up for air and make my way out into the world to attend some equally literary and stimulating events. All in all, I suspect it will be a good - no, excellent - weekend. I expect I'll have much to say next week. Stay tuned.
