Steve Erickson, he of the Zeroville genius, will be discussing the book (and who knows what else) with Michael Silverblatt today at 2:30pm on Bookworm. I suspect this will be a good one and well worth your time.
I, on the other hand, have been thinking of certain passages from Erickson's Our Ecstatic Days as I am under such insane deadlines (six consecutive 18 hour days, I'm slowly losing my mind) and want little more than to succumb:
"As she lies in the bottom of the gondola in the night of her mind, with the cool night breeze blowing in her face, the lake is much bigger, a vast ocean aswirl, because even here in her mind the lake is going down its drain. ... Bubbles rise at the center of the whirlpool -- and finally the gondola's passengers feel themselves caught in the current of the vortex and begin the long journey down to the whirlpool's center."
