The behind-the-scenes feature on the French version of the DVD highlights the painstaking work that went into the making of this film - from the book to film adaptation to the meticulously hand-drawn lines, the laborious animations, and the lovingly delivered voice-overs.
What a massive undertaking and what a stunning result.
This is precisely the kind of thing that makes me feel at once silly (haircut worry) and lazy (for finding my novel-writing cumbersome) but also so inspired (Satrapi is a first-time graphic novelist & filmmaker) at what is possible if you believe in a story that must be told.
