I had a choice. I could purchase the armful of just-out hardcover books that I lugged around the bookstore today and then find a way to cram all of them into my suitcase for my upcoming (and oh so needed I cannot even tell you - but you probably get it, given how available I've been to blog here) vacation. Or I could put them all back in their places and order the eReader that shall not be named.
Yes, I could have chosen others. Sony's are interesting. Yes, there will be cooler ones available next month and the month after that and the one after that. Yes, I have major issues with so many of the big-brother-esque features of the eReader that shall not be named. Yes, I'd rather have a tool that does not tie me to one format. Yes, I wrote this. (I know.)
However: I can think of no other way to save as much cash (it now costs less than the armful of books I had), as many trees, and take a ton of books with me when I travel. Can you?
I held out for nearly two years, but I still feel dirty and embarrassed.
